“Loved this place...so worth the drive from Winnipeg. Here's a phrase I never thought I'd say with such enthusiasm: "It was the best salad I've ever tasted!" But so true... I had their Avocado Oasis and what stood out is that they packed it with ingredients instead of packing it with lettuce. So the flavour combo of the ingredients had me enjoying literally every bite. And of course the baked goods were delicious. We tried the pecan caramel cheesecake and one of their scones of the day. The decor and service just made the experience that much more delightful. And great prices too!”

“Neat little place! Friendly staff & cozy atmosphere. Dill Pickle soup was delicious, but the corn chowder soup was a bit too spicy for my liking. We had reservations for a large group, and we were served very well. They also serve delicious mini cheesecakes for dessert; perfect portion for when you are no longer hungry but want something sweet to wash it all down.”

“Finally made it to the beautiful Buttercup Café in Winkler. What a true gem of a place. The service, food, atmosphere, decor, and all around experience was top of the pops. The sandwiches were delicious and large, (both of these were half sandwiches) and made on homemade bread. The soup was fresh and super tasty and even though it was hot, the air conditioning made it comfortable enough to enjoy soup. The new avocado salad was chock full of toppings and not just lettuce and it was prepared so that there wasn’t HUGE pieces of lettuce to try and chew like a brontosaurus and made for an enjoyable eating experience. The bienenstich (bee sting) cake was one of the best I’ve tried, not overly sweet and the crunchy topping was so delicious and the perfect contrast to the softer cake. The macarons were large all the perfect textures with great “little feet”. There were lots of gluten free friendly options as well and something for everyone. On top of that, the coffee was really good and the ambience and cleanliness were top notch. There is lots of seating indoors and such cool decor to take in. There is also an outdoor patio area as well which was lovely. The washrooms are so clean and decorated interestingly with the same eclectic decor. Highly recommended you take a trip there if you’re in the area, or even if you’re not, it’s worth the drive.

“First time here, with my daughter, and we both loved it. Food excellent, fast service and informative and amicable staff. The table we sat on had a reservation in 2 hrs, and upon sharing this info, we were given our food quickly as to have the table clean and empty for the next people coming in.

Food was big in portion, and the menu with a wide variety of options. I loved the ambiance with older pictures, some of them from National Parks, which I loved. It’s the perfect place to come for a date, for coffee, brunch, etc. The cat was a bonus.

It was about time Winkler got an establishment like this. I think they will do great, because for sure I know I will be coming back and recommending this place.

Kid-Friendliness: Portions are big , delicious. You might have to help your kiddo finish their meal. Not a bad thing.”

Well today Cherylee and I took a ride out to Winkler for lunch, now some people may think 75 minute drive for lunch? Well I tell you it’s well worth the trip. There is no place in Winnipeg that can match the Buttercup Cafe as far as the quality of food and service! The people at Buttercup Cafe are friendly, attentive and the food is absolutely delicious! I had the cheeseburger soup! Fantastic, Cherylee had the half sized chef salad! YES, half size and it’s still a lot. We split the cranberry turkey bacon sandwich. The cheeseburger soup was incredible, tasted like a cheeseburger, pickles etc. The cranberry turkey bacon sandwich WOW, the bread was soft, well put together sandwich with the taste and the crunch of bacon to the sweet taste of cranberry! Now we did get dessert, however to go. Of course the Buttercup Cafe has clearly the best scones in Manitoba, I’ve been to a few place’s people in Winnipeg suggested for scones and they can’t even come close as the scones at Buttercup have the crunch, the soft inside and a well distributed taste of cranberry orange. Cherylee took home a pistachio tart and we got dessert for the kids! Listen I’ve been to a lot f places and Buttercup Cafe is in the top 3! If you get the chance go! Why? Cause that’s the bottom line as Coach Jones says so! Merry Christmas!
